Kite makers and kite fliers from all over the world come to Fréjus at the end of October to compete with each other and enjoy each other’s kites. The three-day event has been held at the Base Nature, an old air base between the Argens Delta and Port-Fréjus, since 1996. In addition to filling the skies with hundreds of colorful kites and balloons, the event usually includes kite-making and kite-flying workshops, aerial ballets and Japanese kite battles. Around the fringes of the festival, all kinds of wind-based activities, including paragliding initiation flights and demonstrations of kite-surfing, usually take place.
